Napasai Koh Samui, Thailand
The Napasai is hidden amongst dense cashew, palm and coconut trees on the exclusive northern coast of Koh Samui. The property's extensive grounds assure you of privacy and tranquility.
The Napasai, a member of the Pansea - Orient Express Hotels group, enjoys a unique, private location with magnificent ocean views.
The resort consists of 69 cottages and villas with spacious rooms and suites exquisitely decorated in cottons and silks, wood and bamboo. The large baths are perfect for relaxing after long days of exploring the surroundings.
There are two excellent restaurants to choose from, one indoor and one beachfront. The indoor Lai Thai Restaurant serves authentic Thai cuisine with a fiery zing while the beachfront restaurant specialises in seafood prepared with French flair.
Nestled in a peaceful sanctuary, surrounded by wonderful flora, the Spa at Napasai is a sanctuary of serenity and natural beauty for those seeking to relax and restore body and mind. Who should go?
Napasai encapsulates that rare achievement of combining the charm and style of an independent hotel with exceptional management and service of a five-star chain. Blessed by a quiet location and lots of space - they basically own a whole headland and beach - Napsai has a very private and exclusive atmosphere.
Our advice is to take a seaview cottages as they are like deluxe version of the Robinson Crusoe backpacker huts that made Samui famous in the first place. Spacious rooms open onto huge balconies perfect for romantic cocktails at sunset followed by room service.
When to go?
The east coast of Thailand is sheltered from the south Asian monsoon and gets very little rain for most of the rain. Anytime is good to visit from January through to September and there are two peak seasons (Dec-Jan and again in August). October and November are the wettest months and the monsoon can go on until late December. May-June is a good time to visit with less crowds and lower rates.
Where is it?
Napasai is just across the headland from Mae Nam beach. We have to say the beach in front of the hotel is not the best on the island and rocks make swimming less than ideal. However it is quiet and secluded and perfect for romantic walks and lazing on without being bothered. Neighbouring Mae Nam is one of the best beaches on the island with white sands, beach bars and seafood.
