Click for more photos... In 2007, Hanoi welcomes a charming new five-star hotel, the InterContinental Hanoi Westlake. Set over the tranquil waters of historic Westlake and next to the 800 year-old Golden Lotus Pagoda, it will be the perfect place to get away from the maddening crowds.

The Hanoi Intercontinental Westlake blends modern architecture with Vietnamese design in its rooms and suites. Most have balconies commanding calming views of the serene Westlake waters to soothe the weary mind. Each room has been meticulously furnished and decorated in exquisite materials and handcrafted finishes.

Luxury requires exceptional service, and the Intercontinental Westlake delivers. Guests will find few faults with its elegant Club Lounge and the 24-hour butler service for suites. Gourmands need not worry as the InterContinental is the home of a wide variety of restaurants and bars. Milan Saigon offers a chic combination of European and Asian cuisines, and Cafe du Lac offers a Parisian cafe experience. What better way to unwind after a day of Hanoi excitement than by sipping delicious cocktails against stunning sunset views at the gorgeous Sunset Bar?

Luxury and serenity make their home at the InterContinental Hanoi Westlake, the perfect northern oasis.

Facilities:

* Business centre
* Outdoor swimming pool and children's pool
* Recreation area
* Health club
* Spa
* 7 meeting rooms and the Intercontinental Ballroom

Dining:

* Milan Saigon offering a chic combination of European and Asian cuisine ( (The Miland side serves Italian cuisine, while the Saigon-side, you guess it, serves Vietnamese cuisine.)
* Cafe du Lac offering a Parisian cafe eerience (Cafe Du Lac is a large first floor restaurant cum cafe with al fresco dining available. You'll be enjoying breakfast here a la carte (so your food is cooked fresh) with the large buffet. During the day, Cafe Du Lac is bright and airy, and with the setting of the sun becomes a cozy, intimate place for dinner or a nice evening cocktail.)
* Sunset Bar (Cocktails at the Sunset Bar should be a mandatory experience for all hotel guests. Watching the sun set against the tranquil West Lake waters with a cocktail in hand somehow re-invigorates and relaxes. Who knew a nice drink when paired with a gorgeous sky could be such a restorative? )
* Club Intercontinental Lounge Intercontinental has really done something special with the Milan Saigon. They've realized that Vietnamese and their foreign guests have very different culinary tastes and to resolve this "disagreement" created two separate kitchens in the Milan Saigon.

Room type:

* 359 guest rooms with private balcony overlooking Hanoi's largest lake
* 3 unique Island Pavilions each with 60 rooms and suites The rooms here are large and comfortable. Much larger than the city hotels in fact.

1A Nghi Tam, Tay Ho, Hanoi, Vietnam     Intercontinental Hanoi Westlake is centrally situated in Hanoi, overlooking the largest lake of the city, within a few minutes walk to the historic town and 4o minutes from Noi Bai International Airport.

Who should go?

The Intercontinental is perfect for those used to luxury. Jetsetters, ambassadors, company CEOs and anyone else used to living worry free will love it here. Hanoi is close by, but at a manageable distance so the noise and commotion will not intrude on your rest

When to go?

Hanoi is best experienced during the fall and late spring. The dead of winter can be a little depressing. Likewise, August is a month to avoid Hanoi as the city becomes an oven.

Where is it?

What's not to be missed?

The cocktails at the Sunset Bar in early evenings are certainly not to be missed.

What's cooking?

We are big fans of the breakfast here. The a la carte breakfast is a nice change from the big buffets of most other hotels, and the service is top-notch. The dinners are no slouch either, but with Hanoi's wide array of dining options, Milan Saigon faces some stiff competitoin.
